Widow Creators (Wideators)
The Widow Creators (known also as Wideators or Widowators) are a specialty of the Royal Ghost Army's infantry force. They are considered independent units from the rest of the army and answer exclusively to the authority of the Ghost Monarch.
Creation and training
Each individual Wideator unit is a spirit obtained from the sacrifice of a human woman and the ectoplasmization of her soul. Generally the victim does not consent to her "immolation", but after being transformed, welcomed and armed, she rarely decides not to join the Widow Creators.
Legend has it that the greater the bitterness, resentment, anger and fear present in the body of the living victim, the greater the strength of the spirit that will be extracted with the specific ritual for the creation of a Wideator, which is why women whose lives have been studded with the most terrible vicissitudes are chosen; being armed, free to kill, welcomed and supported by an all-female "family" (albeit heavily militarized) guarantees immediate loyalty from the new Widowator who does not want to abandon her new position of power, support and happiness after having lived (and literally died) as a helpless victim.
After the selection and creation of the unit, the training of the youngest begins by the older Widowator, through tests of strength, speed, dexterity, intelligence and cold blood. This last ability, that of remaining detached in every situation, is considered central to the values of the special force, so much so that showing anger, fear, or any other strong emotion during training is considered such a serious infraction that it is punished with expulsion.
The Widow Creators are also trained in the use of weapons (especially the so-called Plasma Cutter Knives), innovative assault tactics, and hand-to-hand combat with or without weapons.
Appearance
These ghost soldiers wear partial armor and a cloak, all of which are made of surprisingly light materials. The only exception is their brass mask, which makes it impossible for the opponent to guess their mood from facial expression. The mask also has an offensive value: a headbutt received with it can cause exceptional damage, also considering the strength of the spirit wearing it.
It is also a powerful defense for Wideators, who are among the very few anthropomorphic spirits to not have their core located in their torso, but in their head.
